Moving, Moving… To a Better Home

May 28, 2007

Alrighty, after thinking and thinking and thinking, I have made up my mind to move my blog, the main reason being that wordpress.com is kinda restrictive in certain aspects. Don’t get me wrong, WordPress is still the best and I mean, BEST, blogging platform ever. Oh, err, I am still using WordPress anyway, hehe. :D

Anyway, I am moving for good. I have also been contemplating on whether I should use my TLD (Top Level Domain) as my blog address as I had initially planned to have it point to my home machine. After giving it much thought, I have finally decided I would do it. I now present to you:

http://www.alvinchong.net/

Yes, and I can now have the flexibility of adding chat boxes, adding adverts, adding statistic counters and customize many more scripts of my own to run as I wish. Also, I will no longer be updating here, so head over to the new address, well, not that new anyway, just a www instead of blog. If you bookmarked this blog, don’t forget to update your bookmarks. Cheers people!

Ford TDCi Has More Power!

May 21, 2007

I just came across this and I just had to share it with you guys. It is not always that you come across such a vehicle you know?!?!

Anyway, I was browsing some news site this morning and this advertisement on the new Ford TDCi caught my attention. It’s quite a nice car in my humble opinion. So I clicked around their website a little to see what the car has to offer.

Then, I was reading through the brief description of its power and torque capabilities for the advert was saying that towing a 3 tonne load wouldn’t be a problem. Let’s have a look at this:

fordtdci.jpg

22% more power!

With 141bhp to tap on and 33Nm of torque to use, which is of course the best-in-class, you can drag 3 tonnes of weight without any problems! My Swift, on the other hand, has only 133Nm of torque which is of course the best in the whole world, is capable of carrying 10 tonnes without a problem then!

Of course I know it’s just a typo. Ford, don’t get mad at me if you’re reading this. I am just making a parody out of the typo. Have a sense of humour when reading this aye? ;) The car of course is still a good car, well not that I have test drove it but rather, from the specs and the looks alone.

Well, so much for joking around early in the morning. I am back to work now. See you guys later, peepz! :)

IT Terms to Describe Life 2

May 21, 2007

About 5 months ago, I wrote this:

IT Terms To Describe Life?

I was browsing my archive when I stumbled upon it. That was then, but it’s different now. Now, it would go something like this:

I have just managed to install GirlFriend 1.4 a few months back. I managed to remove the NobodyLovesMe virus by installing the Charming 2.0 software. This time, its algorithm was superb in eliminating the virus.

With GirlFriend 1.4 installed, I needed Cash 2.5 as well. Cash 1.5 was just not sufficient and would break down during heavy loads from the GirlFriend program and then OS itself. Cash 2.5 runs better but would still break down occasionally.

With an upgraded OS and GirlFriend 1.4 installed, CreditCard 5.0 was also needed to assist Cash 2.5 in handling the load from the OS and GirlFriend 1.4. With credit card 5.0, there is a problem. It creates a buffer to assist Cash 2.5 in its duties, but it will eventually overload Cash 2.5 every once a month. I am currently hoping for Cash 3.5 to be released so that I can reduce the dependability on CreditCard 5.0.

As of writing, swiftmod.exe still cannot be installed. It requires a minimum of Cash 4.5 to be installed if I remembered correctly. I am speculating Cash 4.5 will only be available Spring 2009. Car 2.0 is also needed but will need some proper management on Cash 2.5, otherwise, the OS will be screwed. Oh, and Car 2.0 runs perfectly with GirlFriend 1.4, so no worries about that. So right now, I think I need Car 2.0 and Cash 3.5 to run smoothly.

Damai

May 20, 2007

Right, not the “peace” kinda damai, but rather the Damai Beach Resort. After staying in KL for quite sometime and also working half dead like nobody’s business, I started missing what nature has to offer. Quite a fair bit of times, I day dreamt in the office, imagining I was on a beach on a cool, breezy evening. So, I didn’t hesitate visiting the beach resort when I was back in Kuching.

Anyway, I went to Damai with my family and Clare. It was a 1 night trip. We got outselves a family suite, which to me is relatively big for the price of RM 380.

damaitoproom.jpg

I don’t know about you guys but I really like the room environment in a resort. It gives me this comfy feeling and that I don’t have to bother too much about cleaning. Someone will do it for me. ;)

Even the toilet was kinda… errr… nice?

damaitoptoilet.jpg

Nice innit? Unfortunately, Murphy must have followed me the other day. The blardy aircond wasn’t functioning and I felt as if I was in a sauna. So much for RM 380.

damaidownroom.jpg

Oh, and the photo above, that is the room below. Yes, the suite has 2 levels. The level below is basically meant for kids. Even the design of the room itself is kinda childish, but you know what? I kinda like it. Hey, don’t laugh, everyone has a little child in him. :)

damaidownroom2.jpg

By this time, Clare and friends (oh Cheryl and ehem boy boy) were out playing basketball. Me being the lazy one, didn’t join them. I stayed in the room under the cold aircond instead. The one below was working. Nonetheless, I was still sweating like a pig.

damaidownroom3.jpg

Anyway, back to the room below. Oh, did I mention they even have a TV below and a cute little sofa set for people (kids?) to sit and watch sports cartoons?

I like the room but because the damn aircond above wasn’t functioning, we had to give the reception a call to change rooms. We got ourselves a fairly equivalent room for a change.

damainewroom.jpg

So, the new room looks something like the above and the below pictures.

damainewroom2.jpg

Of course the room is actually much bigger than you’d expect. The photos I published here won’t do justice to the actual size of the room. The new room is actually more conventional but still, it’s equally comfy and luxurious. :)

damainewroom3.jpg

And of course, this room has the advantage of a superb view of the beach. Serious, I am not kidding! Have a look for yourself:

beachview.jpg

It was still kinda hot and all, but I came to my senses. Hey, I didn’t pay RM 380 to be there to stay in the hotel doing nothing. So I gave Clare a call and we both went to the swimming pool with her friends, for a swim. It felt very nice to be swimming after having stopped swimming for ages. One thing, my age is taking its toll and I lost the superb stamina I used to have about 9 years back.

damaisunset.jpg

Alas, time past extremely fast. Without me realising, the sun was already setting. We went to the beach earlier on and got back for shower and prepared for dinner. The sunset was extremely beautiful and I couldn’t resist the urge to snap it with the dSLR.

Come dinner time, we were kinda hungry we downed the seafood and unknowingly didn’t take any pictures of the dishes. Sorry folks, no pictures of midin and prawns and crabs, etc. Needless to say, dinner was at Kampung Buntal. We met a bunch of French there. They were looking at us having a good time and greeted us with Bon Appetit as they passed us.

Then, minutes later, I saw the waiter going over to their table with a big plate of FRESH WATER CRABS!!! &*@!^#$*#@!@&^!@$!@#. Blardy hell, they enjoyed better food than we did. LOL!

damailobby.jpg

We went back to the hotel after that, sitting at the lobby. About half an hour later, the same bunch of French came back to the same hotel. I couldn’t help but realised one of them was actually holding the same camera I did.

The way he took his pictures? SO WRONG! I mean, you look into the viewfinder to take pictures on the dSLR. The back LCD doesn’t provide you with a preview of the scene that will be captured. Blardy French didn’t even look into the viewfinder. All he did was set the dSLR to auto mode, and snapped away. It’s like shooting without aiming, if you know what I mean.

damailobby2.jpg

The next day, we woke up mid morning, proceeded for breakfast and then played in the cold river stream coming from the mountains. By noon, we were back in the hotel, showering and preparing for checkout.

That’s basically it. This post is getting kinda long. So I’ll end this post with a note that I got myself a sunburn for playing under the not too hot (so I thought?) sun for too long. Damn it, but nonetheless, it was still a great trip after a long long time.

Stupid Or What?

May 10, 2007

On The Side Note:

1) Vote for Nicole (No. 14) at http://www.mix.fm/05/special/mmw07/ Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful contestant in Miss Malaysia World 2007. Nicole, now, where is my reward? ;)

My mind has been filled with numerous stuff, I don’t even have the brain cells to think anymore. No longer am I enjoying life as I used to. I am full of commitments and I have to think of a lot of things that I didn’t use to have to think. Everyday, it is about work work and work. Even when you’re off work, you mind keeps thinking what has to be done the next day, for fear that you will not be able to finish your work and all.

For those who have the opportunity to go travel around the world and then tell me they have been busy, don’t give me that bullcrap. You obviously have the extra time to do those travels and you are obviously miles better than me. My head is so full of things now, thinking about money, about work, about relationship, thinking about friendship, thinking about my future. Yes, as I am writing this now, I am thinking of all those. Sometimes I get so frustrated that I think I shouldn’t give a fuck about the world. I think I am gonna do just that to relieve myself off the trouble.

Anyway, after a hectic day of work, I come back to the condominium and I see this amazing sight. As if it isn’t already beautiful enough, people just had to decorate it:

leaflet.jpg

You saw that?!?! Pink “tongues” sticking out of each mail box! Isn’t the decoration just superb?!?!? Isn’t it amazing how people can make the mailbox so “beautiful”?

Now, it got me wondering, did the management specifically consent to this or is the distributor just plain stupid?

notice.jpg

This was what I saw, so it is either the management consent to it or the distributor just does not understand plain English. Smart but an annoying way to finish distributing leaflets. I don’t know about you guys, but it annoys the shit out of me to see leaflets everywhere, let alone putting it on my car windshield. When it rains, if the printing is low quality, the bloody ink just stains the whole windshield. *!@^#*!&@!@&#*!#&!@*%#^%!#*@&!@
